Just after returning from my visit home to Ireland the last week of November I took on building a new church in the parish where I am working. The church that was in place serving the people for almost three years was falling down. During mass one Sunday in November the wind came and took off part of the roof. It was time to replace it.
I took time to design a new church and hired some men who had been working for us at the building of the grotto. They began construction the first week of December and in just two months a new church is almost complete. As I post these photos and write this commentary the church has its roof, is plastered inside and the workers are putting in the floor this week.
The name of the church is 'Senor de los Milagros' or Lord of the Miracles and when it is finished it will hold about 150 people. This part of the parish is very country. There are lots of fruit trees growing here. The people are farmers, while at the same time make bricks which they sell to the shops for construction. In the construction of the church we used bricks which we bought from one of the local men. When the church is finished and officially opened I will put up more photos. Thanking all my friends at home who have made it possible to build this church through their financial help. Fr. P.J.
